Converting SVCDs to DVDs

So a lot of folks ask me how I get my movies to come out so neat....how do I have all of the music that I have...

I read. Yes, that's the secret, folks. Google. Google. Google.

There is no easy way to get things done in the Blue Nowhere, but more likely than not, some other poor sod has tried to do what you're trying to do and either failed (referred to as "misery's company") or succeeded. Now there are two types of success stories: Those that share tales of their good fortune without any substance, or those that actually provide something useful. The first group is the kind of people, that when you ask "Hey, did you get that XXXXX to work?" they respnd, "Yeah i did, and I'm so cool because of it." The second group of folks respond, "Yeah i did, and here's what i did to do it." The second group rocks. The first group sucks.

So in the spirit of all members of the second group, here are a few tips regarding file sharing and movie making.

Please note that I do not condone theft nor is this a guide to felonious activity.

If you wanna walk across that threshold however, it's you in those shoes, not me.

First off, drop Kazaa and Morpheus and Napster like bad habits. They suck for aggregate downloads and a laden with viruses. Get on the IRC bandwagon. Learn how to use MiRC and use google to find out about xdcc commands and channels and all the uber cool folks that use them.

Once you have the SVCD files (remember, I don't know where you got them), it's time to make them into DVDs.

UnRAR the SVCD to a couple of folders. Usually there will be 2 discs per movie and

you need to extract the MPEGs into different folders as not to confuse them.

Open your copy of Ulead DVD MOviefactory.

Import the MPEGs into the timeline of your new project.Make sure you do this in order, or you'll be really pissed later on.

Combine the MPEGs into one large file.

Erase all chapters, and use the auto-create chapter function to set a chapter every 3-4 minutes or so.

Create a root and title DVD menu using a modified Ulead template. I like to get a picture from Google image search and import that as my menu background.

Burn the DVD.

Make some popcorn.

Enjoy.

Obviously this is a very cursory guide, but it's the easiest method I've found so that you don't have to mess around with a bunch of different programs like TMPEG, ISOBuster, etc.

Next time I do this, I'll be sure to get some screen captures and update the page.
