The heating system was in bad need of updating. As the house grew over the years, so did the bird's nest of plumbing in the basement. Though it wasn't exactly up to code, it worked just fine for 8 people. That said, we wanted to take the time to replace the boiler while we had the chance, and in the process, convert from oil heat to natural gas. The furnace was being installed today (7.12.06) so I'll get some "after" pictures here soon.

By replacing the furnace and relining all of the plumbing in the ceiling, we'll be opening up quite a bit of space in what we are calling the washroom.
